The volume control is fine, although I can't use it this way for the wah effect. I currently have my ECC sending output TO the volume pedal (instead of plugging the pedal into PEDAL IN jack). The wah did not give me very good control over the range, but I'm not sure if this is because of the volume pedal I'm using (RFX 402P) or due to the processor itself. There is an option to use a pedal input to control volume or wah effects. I haven't yet figured out how to get the compression and the distortion to work together w/o producing a lot of feedback. At least three of the distortions are very usable (in my opinion), and combined with the noise gate and amp simulator, you can get some really cool sounds. The digital effects (pitch shift, flanger, chorus and tremolo) sound great and also have a very large range for fine-tuning the effects (e.g., flange has 5 diff.
